Suffolk FRES (Firecom) will be changing Dispatch procedures on all calls with in the next few months.
Signals will no longer be used, instead "Plain Language" will be used. For example, instead of "a signal 13 at 245 main st" Firecom will announce " Automatic alarm, Location 245 Main st."
This new "plain language" is commonly used in many depts across the US and will soon be adopted by Suffolk Co for a variety of reasons, and will replace the current disptach procedures.
Rumor has it that they will also begin to priorityize fire calls just like EMS calls are dispatched (similar to A,B,C,D,E response) How this is going to be set up in not fully known.
More Deatils to follow ....
