Special Weather Statement Statement as of 12:10 PM EDT on July 5, 2005
... Locally heavy downpours and some flooding possible tonight through Wednesday night...
The area of high pressure that provided a pleasant Holiday weekend will continue to move offshore this afternoon. In its wake... southerly winds are in the process of ushering in a tropical airmass. At the same time... a slow moving low pressure system will work towards the region tonight and then drift ever so slowly across the area through the midweek period.
As this area of low pressure pushes in from the west... it will act as a focus for the development of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rain which could result in localized flooding. At this time... it appears that areas west through north of the metropolitan area will be under the greatest risk for this... and then generally from later tonight through Wednesday.

The area of high pressure that provided a pleasant Holiday weekend will continue to move well offshore overnight. In its wake... a slow moving low pressure system will work towards the region through Wednesday.
As this area of low pressure pushes in from the west... it will act as a focus for the development of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rain which could result in localized flooding. The main focus for any heavier showers will be along a weak cold front that is moving into the tri-state area. Once again... the water May Pond on roads with poor drainage.
