The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Wind
Advisory.
Showers ahead of an approaching cold front will move into the region
late tonight. Although for the most part... the winds will only be
breezy... there is the potential for strong gusty winds along and just
ahead of the cold front as it moves from west to east across the
tri-state area late tonight and Friday morning. The winds may gust to
around 45 mph or so as the heavier showers move through. After the
cold front moves through... northwest winds with gusts to around 35
mph will be possible on Friday.
A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31
to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of these
magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions.
Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds
subside.
